the katina’s tribute to mj

i grew up listening to michael jackson
some of my fondest memories are
riding in the passenger’s seat of my uncle tim’s monte carlo
sitting on my knees so i could see out
singing every word to the entire “thriller” album
unlike most pentecostal preacher’s kids
i did not have to listen to that kind of music in secret
my mama was as much of a fan as i was
i continued being a fan through the years

then i met the katinas
and became a rabid fan of theirs as well
they are some of the most talented guys ever
and they are some of the kindest souls i know

when jacob lowery emailed me this youtube link
of the katinas singing the jackson 5 tune “i’ll be there”
i knew i had to feature it on the blog
so here ya go

eating longhorns in oklahoma

the boys & i had a “daddy day”
while we were in oklahoma
we went to the top of mt. scott
and hiked around
then we stopped off at meer’s store
in meers, ok
for the best burgers around
they are made of longhorn beef
& are as big as a longhorns head

jrm update – encounter worship conference

this week i was privileged to be a part of
the encounter worship conference in franklin tn
with host lindell cooley & the grace church team
i sat in with lindell & tony hooper for a 2 hour interview
in which we discussed the coming convergence in worship
and how to raise up a new generation of worship leaders
then i jumped into leading some worship that night
good times!

whatever we are full of will eventually spill out into our speech

The Kingdom

what language do we speak
negativity
gossip
coarse joking
joy
bitterness
resentment
faith
love

our speech betrays us
our heart will always find a voice
this is why we must hide His word in our hearts

we are to be so full of Him
His words
and His ways
that we cannot help but talk like He talks
fullness brings about overflow
and overflow brings about
rivers of living water flowing out of us

in nederland & beaumont, tx this weekend
what a great time
there is really something stirring in that ministry
we love the hearts of sr. pastors randy & renee’ clark
and we enjoy every chance we get to hang with
pastors randon & lindsay at the beaumont campus
and with pastors deamon & kristine scapin at the mid-county campus
after service on sunday deamon took me to a nederland tradition

it is easy to call the moments between the waves
as God forsaken
but you would be mistaken

waves of glory
waves of grace

changed us all
it continues to change us all

so today we remember that day
even though
its not about the day
its not about the man
its even not about what the man did on that day

its about the heart
the passion for more of Him
the hunger to see as much of Him as He will allow
the thirst that drives you into the driest of deserts
in search for the river

it about being slapped back into focus
pulled back into the purpose for which we were created
to see Him
to be like Him

thats what it is about

so today i have remembered
i will never forget

dino rizzo spoke last night at the destiny conference
i have known of dino for several years
and have been following him and his ministry
then twitter allowed me to “follow” him even closer
i knew by his updates that i was gonna like him
boy do i
he is so very refreshing
he is authentic and anointed

he has just released a new book “servolution”
which tells how his church

has started a revolution of serving in their city
